Disney Plus Day has seemingly revealed all of its announcements, with Star Wars fans disappointed that there were no trailers for the likes of Kenobi and The Mandalorian season 3. While Marvel received an ample number of new announcements, Star Wars was notably absent, with the rumored sizzle reel for the next season of The Mandalorian and trailer debut for Kenobi missing the event.
Where were the Disney Plus Day Star Wars trailers?
Kenobi was somewhat featured on Disney Plus Day, with a sizzle reel preview for the upcoming series revealing concept art taken from the show. Additionally, Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett was released on Disney Plus, a documentary focusing on the character with behind-the-scenes footage. However, compared to the plethora of Marvel announcements, new Star Wars reveals were notably few and far between. No new trailers for the franchise’s biggest projects were revealed, with Kenobi’s announcements limited to concept art, while The Mandalorian season 3 wasn’t featured.
So where were the Star Wars announcements? While Disney Plus Day would suggest equal billing for all of Disney’s owned properties, Marvel had a slew of revealed projects on the horizon, from Moon Knight to She-Hulk and beyond. On the other hand, Star Wars is taking the less is more approach — The Book of Boba Fett is debuting this year, while Kenobi, Andor, and The Mandalorian season 3 are the big named projects on the horizon. However, as both Kenobi and Andor are set to release on an undisclosed date in 2022, The Book of Boba Fett recently received a trailer, and The Mandalorian season 3 having yet to confirm its release date, there aren’t as many coals in the fire as there are in Disney’s Marvel department.
Still, that’s not to say that projects outside of the named Disney Plus series aren’t on their way — the Rogue Squadron film is set for 2023, the Ahsoka live-action spin-off series has been announced, while The Acolyte, Lando, and A Droid Story are also on their way. Then there are the hugely exciting untitled Taika Waititi, Rian Johnson, Kevin Feige, and J.D. Dillard projects. So even though Disney Plus Day may have lacked in new Star Wars announcements, there’s still plenty to come.
In other news, new Spider-Man: No Way Home leaks seemingly confirmed huge spoilers for the film. A Call of Duty: Vanguard leak also revealed Captain America and Indiana Jones skins.
