Diablo 2 Resurrected Update

Here’s what Diablo 2 Resurrected 1.06 adds to the game:

  • Introduces a login queue during high traffic periods.
  • Details what position in the queue players are.
  • If players don’t wish to wait, they can select to leave the queue and play offline.

As you can see, it’s not a particularly thrilling update. However, it’s the sort of quality-of-life tweak that’ll serve Diablo 2 Resurrected well in the future. The game was plagued with issues at launch, and getting into a lobby was one of them. While this update doesn’t eliminate the long wait times you’ll suffer at peak traffic, it certainly helps. It means you’ll know exactly where you are in the server queue. After fans vented their frustration about waiting for lobbies without knowing exactly how long it would take, it’s a step in the right direction.

Of course, it’s a minor update, and you can expect even more patches from Blizzard in the future. Since Diablo 2 Resurrected was mostly based on the code from the original 2000 game, it means there’s plenty of teething problems to sort out. At launch, players were struggling to find matches and create characters. Updates like these, small but frequent, seem to be a sustainable way for Blizzard to slowly bring the game up to a playable state. It’s certainly good news, making finding a game that bit less unpredictable.

In other news, it seems that a Gotham Knights release date is imminent. Elsewhere, Fortnite is crossing over with the much-anticipated movie Dune.
