Nintendo has confirmed a Dr. Mario World shut down date for later this year, bringing the long-suffering Dr. Mario mobile game to a close after two years of service. The Dr. Mario World end date is confirmed for November, after which point the game will be rendered unplayable. What makes the news even worse is the fact that Nintendo chose to announce the Dr. Mario World closure on the anniversary of the original game.
What is the Dr. Mario World shut down date?
Nintendo has announced that Dr. Mario World’s game service will end at 06:00 UTC on November 1, 2021, roughly two and half years after the game launched. A previous announcement had this shut down date for Dr. Mario World as October 31, but this has since been amended to the following day. As of today, July 28, Dr. Mario World’s premium currency Diamonds can no longer be bought. After the November 1 shut-off date, anyone who tries to play Dr. Mario World will get an error message saying that the game’s service has ended and will be unable to continue.
Nintendo really announced they're killing Dr. Mario World on the anniversary of the original Dr. Mario.

Of course, what’s amusing observant fans is that the announcement from Nintendo fell on the 31st anniversary of the original Dr. Mario, which came out July 27, 1990 for the NES. Beyond that, fans are either upset at the closure of Dr. Mario World, possibly because they spent real money on it, think it was long overdue, or think it should’ve happened to another Nintendo mobile game instead — such as Mario Kart Tour.
What happens to those few poor souls who spent quite a bit of money on this game?

Mario kart tour should end instead. Mkt is boring, no skill is required, and way too many 'in your face' options to spend money. Dr. Mario world is pure!

Dr. Mario World did fairly well on its initial release in 2019, outperforming Harry Potter AR game Wizards Unite, but it quickly became apparent that the game had suffered the worst Nintendo launch of any of the company’s mobile titles. As Dr. Mario World is completely reliant on servers and cannot be played offline, any fans still remaining will have to move on to other games come November.
