Black Ops Cold War slow leveling in Season 1

Black Ops Cold War players are leveling up slowly in Season 1

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 players are noting that the leveling up process has suddenly become incredibly slow. After downloading the Season 1 update, users that participate in online multiplayer matches are struggling to achieve new ranks within a reasonable timeframe.

Is there a CoD: Black Ops Cold War slow leveling bug?

At the time of writing, it’s impossible to say whether the increased level requirements are intentional or not. Season 1 significantly upped the Black Ops Cold War level cap, so it is possible that Treyarch has tweaked the prerequisites to match. If that’s the case, however, the developer has gone so overboard as to make some players question if level progression is now broken.

Game Revolution can verify that leveling up is much slower in Black Ops Cold War Season 1. After completing six Search and Destroy matches, the in-game rank only increased from Prestige 3, Level 1 to Prestige 3, Level 2. It’s possible that this is intentional, though the drastically increased requirements almost seem too steep to be intended.

With the new Black Ops Cold War Season 1 level cap of Prestige 7, at the current rate, reaching it before the end date is a tall task. Fingers crossed that Treyarch has made an error and a CoD: Black Ops Cold War slow leveling up fix for Season 1 is incoming.

Failing that, utilizing 2XP events will be a must for anybody looking to hit max Prestige this season. Of course, players will also need to focus on completing challenges to earn bonus experience. That includes weapon challenges, so be sure to use a variety of loadouts in order to maximize earning potential.

We’ve reached out to Activision for comment on the issue and will publish any updates in due course.
