The launch of Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is slated to bring new content to Call of Duty: Warzone. However, that content hasn’t yet released, instead being delayed until Cold War multiplayer goes live. So what is the Black Ops Cold War Warzone release date, and when can you expect the new content to drop? Read on to find out.
When is Black Ops Cold War Warzone coming out?
The Black Ops Cold War Warzone release date is set for December 10, 2020. This date coincides with the launch date of Cold War multiplayer, and also marks the start date for the newest season of Call of Duty: Warzone.
If the details here seem a bit confusing, you’re not alone. Warzone has been barreling toward the release of Season 7 following the game’s initial launch date back in March. However, the newest season of Warzone is now lining up with the very first season of Black Ops Cold War multiplayer.
This bit is expected, since Cold War was always set to bring new content into Warzone. The confusing bit is that Warzone seems to be entering a new seasonal rotation starting at Season 1.
This information was revealed through a post on the Call of Duty blog. There, the development team gave details on what new content will land in the free-to-play battle royale. Namely, players can look forward to loads of free content in the form of weapons, maps, gameplay modes.
However, the team also revealed that instead of going into Season 7 as expected, Warzone will be reverting back to a new Season 1 on December 10. At the very least, no mention of Season 7 was made. By all accounts, it seems Warzone is beginning a new seasonal cycle.
Regardless of what the season is numbered, the Black Ops Cold War Warzone tie-in will release on December 10. This date marks the start of Cold War multiplayer as well as the latest shared progression path with Modern Warfare 2019.
