Unless you're certain you can finish a level, don't waste coins on buying extra moves.
As in most puzzles think ahead, before you place balloons that looks like you don't need. You might set up chains that will help you in the long run.
Chase the super balloons on levels with more than one objective. You'll usually find finishing one will finish the other.
