Xbox Series S loading time

Xbox Series S loading time demo leaves out something important

An Xbox Series S loading time demo has debuted this morning, showing Microsoft’s budget-friendly console loading The Outer Worlds a lot faster than the previous generation — but it leaves out something pretty important.

The demo video begins by putting an Xbox Series S and an Xbox One S next to one another. Both consoles start loading The Outer Worlds at the same time and the difference is absolutely staggering: the Xbox Series S loads Obsidian’s sci-fi RPG in just under 11 seconds. The current-gen console, meanwhile, takes 53 seconds to load the game.

That seems like a pretty good difference — the Xbox Series S loading time is nearly five times faster than the previous generation. However, it leaves out something important: the Xbox One X.

How fast does the Xbox One X load the game? Our research shows, the Xbox One X loads a section of The Outer Worlds in 34 seconds. That’s not quite as impressive as the Xbox Series S loading a game five times faster, but it’s still a heck of an improvement.

Either way, it’s clear that even the cheaper Xbox Series S will give you a better way to play your games. If you’ve been wondering whether or not it’s worth it, you can see the representative comparison for yourself below.
