What game modes are returning with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War?
So far, we know that at least a few popular COD game types are coming with Black Ops Cold War. The confirmed returning multiplayer modes are:
- Team Deathmatch
- Search & Destroy
- Domination
- Kill Confirmed
- Free-for-All
- Headquarters
It’s likely we’ll see the return of other game modes from past games as well, if not at launch, then later in an update.
What are the new multiplayer modes in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War?
Treyarch revealed three new multiplayer game types that’ll be making their premiere in Black Ops Cold War.
VIP Escort
This 6v6 game mode will have one team protecting a VIP (Very Important Player) while their opponents try to eliminate them. The VIP will spawn with a custom pistol, smoke grenade, and a UAV, but will mostly depend on their teammates for protection.
The defending team must escort the VIP to one of two extraction points on the map. There are no respawns, but downed players can enter Last Stand and be revived by their teammates.
Combined Arms
This 12v12 multiplayer mode is the Black Ops Cold War version of Ground War. Teams will have to utilize infantry and vehicles to combat each other on large-scale maps.
The vehicle set available to each team will depend on which map is being played. Some will have tanks and snowmobiles, while others will have gunboats, wakerunners, or attack helicopters.
Combined Arms will have several game types available. The one shown during the reveal was Domination, but you can bet other popular modes will get the Combined Arms treatment as well.
Fireteam
Fireteam features the most players per match of any of Black Ops Cold War‘s multiplayer modes. This 10v10v10v10 mode will have players vying to complete objectives and survive against environmental hazards.
You can play all the above Black Ops Cold War multiplayer modes when the game launches on November 13, 2020.
