PS5 reveal event rescheduled for this week

PS5 reveal event officially rescheduled for this week

The rumors were true: the PS5 reveal event is coming this week after all. Sony has confirmed that the anticipated event is happening on June 11 at 1 PM PT.

The hardware maker also gave some more details about the event. It will be pre-taped and will be broadcasted at 1080p at 30 frames per second. SIE Content Communications Senior Director Sid Shuman noted that these games will look better when played natively and these limitations were a result of the many staff members around the industry working from home. 4K video files, after all, are quite huge.

He also noted that players should wear headphones for the event since it will feature “cool audio work.” No details were mentioned, but it might have something to do with the PS5’s increased focus on sound. Mark Cerny’s presentation went into extreme detail on Sony’s goals for audio (as you can see in the above jargon-filled picture) that included creating great audio for all, supporting hundreds of sound sources, and taking “on presence and locality,” which essentially means players can more easily pinpoint where audio sources are coming from.

ALSO: Bloodborne PS5 and PC rumors are gaining more and more steam

We don’t know for sure what we will in the hour-long reveal event, but there have been rumors. Horizon Zero Dawn 2 seems likely as does a new Silent Hill and Bloodborne remaster. We won’t have to wait long to find out.
