Destiny 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X versions confirmed

While Microsoft showed some cross-generation games coming on its upcoming hardware, Bungie also revealed that Destiny 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are also in the works. However, no dates or other information was given.

Bungie revealed this in a tweet replying to the official Xbox account. The tweet simply read, “Destiny 2 will be on next-gen platforms! More details to come.” Of course, since both systems are backwards compatible with the current generation, Destiny 2 is most likely be playable on these systems anyway. But the tweet implies that these will be some sort of upgraded ports.

Hopefully, that means it will come out at or near the console launches as players would probably like to see their Guardian on their new systems. Bungie has let players carry over their progression to other systems before, so this will likely also be the case for these next-gen ports.

Destiny is used to being a cross-generational game, too. The first game originally came to the PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as their successors. Those systems were supported until 2016’s Rise of Iron expansion. It begs the question on how long Bungie will also support Destiny 2 on the PS4 and Xbox One.
