During the “Paying Respects” side quest in FF7 Remake, you’ll need to find a graveyard key to access an area. However, there’s no big hint as to who has the graveyard key. Fortunately, gaining access to the cemetery isn’t too hard, though you’ll have to go a bit out of your way to get the key to the gate.
Where to get the Graveyard Key in Final Fantasy 7 Remake
During Chapter 8 of FF7 Remake, you’ll find a side quest titled “Paying Respects.” An older man in the Sector 5 slums wants to visit his wife’s grave on the anniversary of her death. Unfortunately, the cemetery has overrun by monsters. An even bigger problem, at least for you, is that a new gate has been put in and it’s locked. To complete the old man’s request, you’ll have to find the key to the graveyard and fight the monsters within.
You may have already found the Graveyard Key after an earlier side quest. If not, you don’t have to look anywhere too special. Moggie, the Moogle Merchant, has the key for sale in his shop for one Moogle Medal. You should have at least one of these items, but if not, there’s a way to get more close by.
Once you have the Graveyard Key, you can head towards the cemetery. You’ll find it north of the Sector 5 slums in the Nuts ‘n’ Bolts Hill area. The Ventimantis inside are pretty tough at this point in the game, but they’re weak to ice magic, so pelt them with that to stagger them then hit them as hard as you can.
You’ll need to return to the graveyard again in Chapter 14 for the Missing Children side quest. This time around, you’ll have to fight some Phantoms that are weak to fire. Past these two quests, though, the graveyard in Final Fnatasy 7 Remake doesn’t offer anything interesting besides a bench to rest on.
