The Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 Battle Pass features loads of new cosmetic items, though the skins included this time around all pack a little extra punch. In the case of Maya, the gimmick is that you can customize her outfit in order to create one of 3.8 million possible style combinations and really make the character your own. Is it possible to change your selections after making a custom outfit for Maya, though? With this in mind, we’re here to answer one simple question: Can you edit the Fortnite Maya skin after finalizing?
Can you change Maya’s outfit after finalizing your selections in Fortnite?
When it comes to customizing the look of the Fortnite Maya skin, there are ten elements that you can assign as you see fit:
Fortnite Maya skin build elements
- Hairstyle
- Tattoos
- Sleeves
- Boots
- Shirt colors
- Vest
- Helmet
- Pants color
- Face paint
- Scarf

After selecting the desired cosmetic for any given element, you’ll be presented with a pop-up window that reads as follows:
Finalize Upgrade
This Upgrade choice cannot be reversed. Are you certain?
This means that once any single Upgrade element is finalized — be that hairstyle, tattoos, boots, etc. — the decision is locked in place and cannot be undone or altered. You only get one shot at building the perfect Maya, so be sure not to make any hasty decisions when it comes to outfitting your version of the skin.
It only takes a glance at the Fortnite Reddit to see that a lot of players aren’t thrilled about this. One thread argues that the limitation only serves to “limit creativity and make players regret their choices.” Elsewhere, another thread makes light of the issue via an amusing meme.
Whether Fortnite developer Epic Games might take pity on the community and eventually implement an update allowing edits to be made remains to be seen.
