Resident Evil 3 remake Jill side

Resident Evil 3 remake could have more changes than RE2 remake

We’re just a couple of months away from the release of the Resident Evil 3 remake and the developers have been doing interviews here and there. One of their more recent interviews reveals that the Resident Evil 3 remake may have more differences than the original as compared to the Resident Evil 2 remake — and that’s not all.

Speaking to Famitsu, Peter Fabiano and Masachika Kawata detail some of the things we can look forward to in this upcoming upgrade for a classic survival horror game. Among the many things they’ve mentioned is that Kawata thinks there might be more changes than the Resident Evil 2 remake did.

“I think RE: 3 has more elements [changed] than RE: 2. Someone who played the original knows the ending and may remember it,” Mr. Kawata said according to a machine translation of his response. “However, I want you to enjoy the new developments in the flow again. I think Carlos is particularly symbolic, but it’s not just a look but a character.”

Further on in the interview, Mr. Fabiano states that the basics of the original story have been followed, but people who enjoyed the original version of the game will be able to “enjoy it fresh”.

That’s not all we’ve learned about the Resident Evil 3 remake, either — the subject of Resident Evil Resistance (formerly Project Resistance) was also touched upon. Resident Evil Resistance was more or less developed simultaneously with the shiny new version of RE3, but it’s going to be a completely separate and distinct game that doesn’t tie into the story of Jill and Carlos’ adventure in Raccoon City. Nonetheless, it will be packaged together with the RE3 remake, so fans are basically going to be getting two games for the price of one.

So what were these changes that were made for the Resident Evil 3 remake? Neither Peter Fabiano nor Masachika Kawata went into great detail, so you’ll have to see for yourself when the Resident Evil 3 remake launches worldwide on April 3, 2020.
