Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most successful games ever, with it still attracting tons of players thanks to its GTA Online multiplayer component. Rockstar has continued work on GTA Online throughout this console generation, after bringing GTA 5 over from the Xbox 360 and PS3 to the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Rockstar announced in 2019 that its revenue for GTA Online had reached a new all-time high, with the release of its Diamond Casino & Resort update making room for new microtransaction methods that have once again caused its profits to skyrocket.

GTA 5 making its way to Xbox Game Pass is a smart move on behalf of both Rockstar and Microsoft. With the game now earning much of its revenue through GTA Online’s microtransactions, making it available for subscribers will encourage new or returning players to pick it up. It also gives Game Pass arguably its biggest game to date.
