Fortnite Minty Pickaxe | When is the Merry Mint Axe release date?

As long as you haven’t been living in a cave for the past few days, you’ll have heard about the clamor surrounding the Fortnite Minty Pickaxe. Known as the Merry Mint Axe in-game, players have been trying desperately to get their hands on this festive pickaxe. The holidays are some way off yet, but you’ll want to know when its release date is. Luckily for you, our Fortnite Minty Pickaxe guide has the details you need to be aware of. Check it out below to see how you can get your own limited-edition melee weapon.

When is the Fortnite Minty Pickaxe Release Date?

Well, there’s good and bad news on that front. The Fortnite Minty Pickaxe is already out, but you can’t buy it in the shop. You can’t get it for completing a specific challenge in-game, either. The only way to get your hands on the Merry Mint Pickaxe, at the time of writing, is if you were lucky enough to head to a GameStop store on October 25.

GameStop employees handed out Fortnite cards with an image of the pickaxe on the front and a redeemable code on the back. You could head to the Epic Games website to redeem the code but, up until the 2.42 update went live on October 29, it wouldn’t work.

The Merry Mint Axe has now been added to the game’s files, as revealed by data miners like FNLeaksandInfo on Twitter. If you managed to bag a card, you can redeem the item at this link to get your own.

Is There Another Way to get the Fortnite Minty Pickaxe?

Fortnite Minty Pickaxe

There is. In a blog post, Epic Games revealed that you would get a Merry Mint Axe card with any purchase of an official Fortnite product while stocks last. Cards are only available at select retailers in these countries:

  • US
  • UK
  • Germany
  • France

There’s no confirmed date for when these cards will be given out, however. Once we know, we’ll let you know. It’s possible that the pickaxe will be added to the in-game shop ahead of the holidays, but don’t take our word for it.
