One of the new features being added to the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the Gunfight multiplayer mode. The mode sees teams of two players battle it out with random weapons. Now, an idea by popular streamer Dr Disrespect for a cross-platform Gunfight tournament is gaining traction with Call of Duty pros.
Modern Warfare will feature cross-platform play between PC and consoles. With this in mind, Dr Disrespect tossed out an idea for a unique Gunfight tournament format on Twitter: “Here’s what I’m thinking…,” tweeted the Doc. “Modern Warfare 2v2 Code Red Tournament – Cross Platform. Teammates consist of 1 on PC and 1 on Console.”

Following Dr Disrespect tweeting his idea, a number of professional Call of Duty players such as Ian “Crimsix” Porter, Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, and FaZe Clan’s Doug “Censor” Martin all expressed their interest in taking part. One player, Anthony “Methodz” Zinni, even went as far as to try to lock down a teammate. Zinni informed Michael “shroud” Crzesiek about the lengths they’d go through to team up with the latter.
Dr Disrespect’s Code Red tournaments are in themselves known for bringing out big names to compete. Streamers who’ve joined the tournaments include big names like Summit1G, JoshOG, Halifax, Deadmau5, and shroud. The series even saw the Doc compete against superstar streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins in Apex Legends.
Of course, at this point the Modern Warfare cross-platform Gunfight tournament is just an idea from Dr Disrespect. There’s no guarantee as of yet that he’ll host a Code Red event with the format. However, it does indicate that Dr Disrespect is looking to run Code Red events for Modern Warfare. While this isn’t that much of a surprise considering Doc’s history with the series as both a player and developer, it’s still good news for those looking to forward to seeing the game get played competitively.
