Don't go too slow. Though it's tempting to turn things down a notch on your first run through, by doing so you make yourself a sitting target.
Taking out certain targets, on occasion, releases power-ups – health packs and different types of bombs. However, unlike in the iPhone release, these seem to equip automatically, requiring no action to be taken.
