Nintendo has announced a new Disney-themed Nintendo Switch coming to Japan in October. The Disney Switch‘s release coincides with the release of Tsum Tsum Festival, a game based on the popular Disney Tsum Tsum toy line, which is also releasing in the West, but there’s no word on whether or not the Tsum Tsum-themed console will release outside of Japan.
Nintendo revealed the console on its Japanese website along with the release date announcement for Disney Tsum Tsum Festival. The console features a purple and pink Joy-Con, each adorned with an array of tiny, pale-white dots, diamonds, spades, hearts, and clubs. The console’s dock is covered in similar markings, along with the Tsum Tsum logo and the faces of the Tsum Tsum versions of Stitch (Lilo & Stitch), Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Pooh Bear. The Disney Switch comes bundled with Disney Tsum Tsum Festival, and both the console and Disney Tsum Tsum Festival release on October 10.

The Disney Switch is one of Nintendo’s updated Switch models, which ships with a longer battery life than the base original and the Switch Lite. This isn’t the first special edition Switch that’s been released: The Switch Lite’s announcement came with news of a special Pokemon Sword and Shield-themed Zacian and Zamazenta edition of the miniaturized console, and Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee got their own special Switch when they released back in 2018.
Bandai Namco announced Disney Tsum Tsum Festival at E3 2019. The party game features minigames like air hockey and curling for up to four players online or locally, as well as puzzle gameplay similar to the LINE: Disney Tsum Tsum mobile game. The Tsum Tsum toy line originated in Japan and has found popularity around the world. The Tsum Tsum toys are squat, hamster-like versions of popular Disney characters—sort of like a cute, plushy, Japanese take on Funko Pop figures.
