You might be curious about an Outer Wilds PS4 port being available to buy and play on Sony’s console. The game is already available on other platforms like PC and Xbox One, but there’s some confusion over a PS4 edition. Find out the answer to this query by reading our Outer Wilds PS4 guide.
Is an Outer Wilds PS4 version available?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there isn’t an Outer Wilds PS4 port that is currently available to buy. The exploration indie title is available on Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux, but Sony’s console is notably absent from the lineup.
There’s been no word from developer Mobius Digital or publisher Annapurna Interactive about a possible release on PS4 either.
Outer Wilds PS4 edition release date
Like we said, there’s been no official announcement about an Outer Wilds PS4 port yet. The game only launched on its other platforms on May 29, so it’s likely that Mobius Digital and Annapurna Interactive have been concentrating on those releases.
That’s not to say that a PS4 version won’t be coming in the near future though. The game isn’t tied to an exclusivity deal with Microsoft, even though it has appeared on PC and Xbox One first. That means that there isn’t anything that can stop Mobius and Annapurna from bringing the game to PS4 if they want to.
Given the sizable fanbase on Sony’s console, the duo would be remiss not to port Outer Wilds to PS4 either. There’s plenty of players who would jump at the chance to try it out, especially with the praise it’s received since it launched.
Hopefully it won’t be too long before we have a definitive answer on this one way or the other. For now, if you want to play Outer Wilds, you’ll have to purchase it on another platform.
