In one of the least surprising moves of E3 2019, Nintendo announced that there will be a Link’s Awakening Amiibo. Link’s Awakening Amiibo | Release date and pre-order
First things first, the release date. The Link’s Awakening Amiibo will launch on September 20. That’s the same day that the base game comes out on Nintendo Switch, so it makes perfect sense to bring the Amiibo out at the same time.
In terms of pre-orders, you can purchase the Amiibo ahead of time. You can pre-order your own cute Link from any online retailer, so head to your favorite to make sure you get yours. Amiibo usually cost $15.99 (£12.99) so it won’t set you back too much money.
Link’s Awakening Amiibo | What does it do?
With the release date and pre-order stuff out of the way, let’s look at what the Link’s Awakening Amiibo will actually do in the game.
First off, the Amiibo will support the game’s Dungeon Creator tool. This is a new mode within the game that allows you to make your own dungeons, based on levels within the main title, to test your friends and the online community with.
Using the Amiibo in this mode will bring Shadow Link into the equation for an additional challenge. Shadow Link will chase you from room to room, and try to kill you. If you manage to defeat him yourself, however, you’ll earn a ton of rupees for your troubles. They’ll go some way to paying for those items that you need to buy, so you don’t have to steal them.
There will be further Amiibo support for the game too. Other Zelda Amiibo can be used to get rewards, but there’s been no word on what’s these will be yet.
