Watch the PS5 vs PS4 Pro comparison video revealed by Sony

PS5 vs PS4 Pro comparison video has been revealed by Sony, showing off the upcoming next-gen PlayStation console’s performance when compared with its predecessor. The video highlights the absence of loading screens on the PS5, offering an ultra smooth flyby of Marvel’s Spider-Man‘s open-world.

The video demo is seemingly the one that was shown to Wired during its interview with Sony’s Mark Cerny, which showcased how the console’s loading screens differed compared to the PS4 Pro. As shown in the below video, shared by journalist Takashi Mochizuki, the PS5 takes less than 1 second to switch between scenes, while the PS4 Pro takes over 8 seconds.

The video also compares Spider-Man‘s open-world when running on the PS4 Pro and the PS5. For the former console, it takes time to render the buildings in the game’s New York setting. However, the PS5 manages to render the buildings in real-time with zero pauses.

The video can be viewed below:

According to Mochizuki, Sony used the phrase “anytime, anywhere, without disconnections,” to describe the PS5’s seamlessness during the presentation.

Sony also reportedly stated that PlayStation would remain the “best place to play,” with it looking to continue fostering relationships with outside game developers to ensure it remained on top of the mountain during the next console generation.

We already know that the PS5 will be capable of rendering in 8K resolutions, whereas the PS4 Pro is capable of inconsistent native 4K. Sony also confirmed that the console’s CPU is “based on the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and contains eight cores of the company’s new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture.”

Sony hasn’t revealed when it will officially reveal the PS5. The company won’t be appearing at E3 2019, though all signs point to an announcement later this year, with a potential launch in 2020. There has been speculation that Sony will hold a PlayStation Experience 2019 event towards the tail-end of the year in which the console will be showcased to the public.
