Red Dead Redemption 2 update 1.07 is here, and the latest patch notes detail a host of new content and bug fixes for Red Dead Online. The new additions were announced last week but didn’t quite make it into the previous patch. This includes a new weapon in the form of the Evans Repeater Rifle, the Fool’s Gold Free Roam event, and a care package for all Red Dead Online Beta participants.

The Red Dead Online 1.07 update also brings over 300 bug fixes. While we don’t have the specifics on which issues have been squashed, we do know that fans have been experiencing various problems since the beta launched. With the release of the Red Dead Online 1.07 patch, the game is that much closer to leaving beta and launching into full access.

The Evans Repeater is making a return from the original Red Dead Redemption and is one of the first weapons released exclusively in Red Dead Online. It seems to emphasize rate of fire and has a large magazine to facilitate that.

Like all other weapons, you can purchase the Evans Repeater from your catalog or from any gunsmith in the game. It is also fully customizable with stocks, wraps, and sights. Unfortunately, there’s no info on whether you can earn the rifle outside of buying it, so you may have to save up to get your hands on it.

Red Dead Online Update 1.07 Patch Notes | Fool’s Gold Free Roam Event

The latest patch for Red Dead Redemption 2 also brings the Fool’s Gold free roam event. You can find it by wandering the world of Red Dead Online and opting in when you get a notification. In Fool’s Gold, only the player wearing the Golden Armor will get points for killing other players. If the player wearing the armor is struck down, the armor then returns to the map as a pickup and whoever reaches it first will become the next player to don it.

Fool’s Gold joins the roster of free roam events, of which there are five others:

Cold Dead Hands: Fight to control a target area for the longest amount of time.
Competitive Challenges: Compete in bow, headshot, horseback, longarm, and sidearm kill challenges. The player with the highest score at the end of the time limit wins.
Dispatch Rider: Teams of players compete to deliver a horse to a destination.
King of the Castle: Players vie for control of the “castle.” Whoever can stay alive in the castle for the longest amount of time wins.
Master Archer: Score points by hitting targets accurate with the bow. Whoever has the most points wins.

Red Dead Online Update 1.07 Patch Notes | Care Package

Those who have played Red Dead Online during the beta so far can also look forward to a care package with this patch. The new care package will contain:

8 Fire Arrows
2 Fire Bottles
60 High-Velocity Pistol Ammo
60 High-Velocity Repeater Ammo
2 Jolly Jacks
1 Lake Lure
2 Potent Horse Medicine

To redeem the care package, you can visit either the lockbox in your camp or any post office. There doesn’t seem to be any other qualifications to get the package other than having played Red Dead Online before today, so everyone should get a chance to cash in for the items.

Red Dead Online Update 1.07 Patch Notes | Special Spinner

The Red Dead Online 1.07 patch also brings the opportunity to earn a Special Spinner. If you complete five daily challenges between today and March 11, you’ll get a Special Spinner sometime next week.

The Special Spinner is attractive to all fish, and can’t be lost, even if your line snaps. This will be an invaluable item for those who make their living online by fishing.

Red Dead Online Update 1.07 Patch Notes | Bug Fixes

Unfortunately, we don’t have the list of 300 bugs that Red Dead Redemption 2 patch 1.07 fixes. However, we’d place our bets on it targeting some of the issues players have been having with disappearing horses.
