The Division 2 beta set new records for Ubisoft

Ubisoft has declared The Division 2 beta their most successful game beta ever. The Division 2, developed by Massive Entertainment, set records for Ubisoft with the number of players taking part in the beta. Along with sheer numbers, participants also played an average of 5 hours game time each.

According to game industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, the figures were revealed in a Ubisoft conference call. The call touched on a range of issues, but the most significant statistics came in relation to The Division 2. The Division 2 beta milestones were accompanied by the news that pre-orders for The Division 2 have surpassed those of the original game.

The conference call divulged more information about Ubisoft’s distribution strategy following the move to put The Division 2 on the Epic Games Store. Ubisoft notes that there are a growing number of distribution platforms. The publisher intends to continue to drive users to Uplay while expanding to the Epic Store. In support of this, the company revealed pre-orders for the sequel were six times higher than The Division on the Uplay store. The figure was likely boosted due to the title now not being available on Steam. In the call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed the move was implemented to attract players to Uplay, “There are a growing number of distribution platforms fighting for great content. With this deal, we saw an opportunity to increase player exposure to our own store while at the same time supporting a partner that greatly values our games and provides better terms,” (via wccftech).

The call contained other notable remarks. Regarding their upcoming release, The Division 2’s campaign will feature around 40 hours of content. Looking to the future, the company believes new technologies like cloud gaming and AI will drive gaming going forward.

The Division 2 is slated to be released on March 15 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For console gamers, we looked into the possibility of 60fps on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
