A demo for the upcoming Switch title Yoshi’s Crafted World has been announced and released today during the Nintendo Direct presentation. The game is slated for release on March 29 but Switch owners have been given the chance to try before they buy by downloading the demo from the eShop right now.
Yoshi’s Crafted World marks the first fully-fledged Yoshi title on the Switch console and is a spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed Wii U/3DS title Yoshi’s Wooly World. The game sees the little green dinosaur platform his way through a variety of stages all built from home crafting supplies. The gameplay promises to keep things exciting as players will have the ability to flip the world around, revealing the reverse side of the many crafty creations and expanding the platforming possibilities. There are also different costumes to craft from materials around the stages which give Yoshi an extra layer of protection.
For those interested in the plot, it seems to be a fairly standard Super Mario inspired affair as the evil Baby Bowser teams up with Kamek to steal some precious gemstones. It’s up to Yoshi to stop them by collecting the gems after they are scattered through the land of arts and crafts.
It sounds like a fairly relaxed ride but Nintendo has incorporated a few different styles of play to ensure all players get the most out of the experience. The Switch’s Joy-Con’s can be shared between two players, giving the game a co-op mode in which player two control another Yoshi. Yoshi’s Crafted World will also offer a Mellow Mode which significantly drops the game’s difficulty, which is perfect for younger gamers.
The game was originally set for release in 2018 but was delayed for a later release. You can pick up your copy of Yoshi’s Wooly World on March 29.
