Yakuza 3 PS4 Remaster

Is a Yakuza 3 PS4 Remaster Coming to the West?

A gap in your collection is never a good thing but, with no Yakuza 3 PS4 remaster release date forthcoming, the adventures of Kiryu-chan and company are going to have to stay incomplete. Or will they? A western PS4 port of Yakuza 3 (as well as the promise of Yakuza 4 and Yakuza 5 to come) has arrived in Japan and, with the rest of the world going crazy for the Tojo Clan, isn’t it about time that we saw a western release for the Yakuza remasters?

Is There a Yakuza 3 PS4 Remaster Release Date?

As of right now, nothing has been confirmed to come to the West. This particularly stings as Yakuza 3 was ported to the PS4 and released in Japan on August 9, 2018. The remasters of Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5 were also announced back in May 2018, with Yakuza 4 coming out on January 17, 2019 in Japan.

However, unless you’re fluent in Japanese and are willing to pay the shipping costs, there’s no legitimate way to get your hands on a Yakuza 3 PS4 remaster, especially if you want English subtitles. So, has there been any change on that front?

Is a Yakuza 3 PS4 Remaster Coming to the West?

The most recent piece of info we have to go on is actually from a January 2019 Game Informer interview. It’s a tiny snippet, but we’ll take what we can get right now: Sam Mullen, localization director at Sega gave an update-of-sorts, stating, “Some of the stuff that we haven’t announced or confirmed for the West, like the remasters of 3, 4, and 5… they did make some content adjustments for that.”

Reading between the lines, it’s merely a case of when, not if a Yakuza 3 PS4 remaster comes to our shores, but localization is a thorough process. With the inclusion (and possibly exclusion) of some content to update certain contextual and cultural misunderstandings that would inevitably take place upon replaying the games in 2019, work may still need to be done. That being said, once Yakuza 3 gets announced, expect the rest to follow. We hope.
