Hella cool, shakka brah! A Life is Strange has been added to Xbox Game Pass. While no official announcement has been made, the Xbox product page for Dontnod’s episodic masterpiece has overplayed its hand and revealed that Life is Strange Xbox Game Pass could be played as soon as today, December 20.
Even a cursory glance at the Life is Strange complete season one Microsoft page hints at someone, somewhere jumping the gun in spectacular fashion. Not only is there a big, blue “Included with Xbox Game Pass” button, but it’s also included in both U.K. and U.S. regions, indicating that an unveiling is imminent and, indeed, available in two of Microsoft’s main markets at the very least.
This follows on from the official Xbox Game Pass account tweeting out a cryptic teaser earlier this week. “Unbeknownst to many, this Thursday a mysterious new game will emerge mysteriously from the mysterious shadows from whence it came,” doesn’t exactly scream Life is Strange and could, in fact, still amount to another game arriving on the on-demand service this week but the fact still remains that a screw-up has taken place.
Even so, it’s perfect timing for the Life is Strange brand. Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 now has a firm release date and the original is still lauded as one of the very best storytelling efforts in the medium, as wannabe photographer Max Caulfield struggles to come to terms with her time manipulation powers in the wake of a tragic event in her life.
It is worth noting that, at the time of writing, you can’t actually play the Life is Strange Xbox Game Pass version just yet, but you won’t need a blue butterfly to help you get your hands on this one; expect it to go live in the next few hours.
We’ve reached out to Microsoft and will update this page accordingly if and when we receive a response.
