Super Smash Bros Ultimate is out now, and one of the biggest draws of the game is in playing and unlocking so many iconic characters, including several from major non-Nintendo games. Undoubtedly one of the most popular inclusions is Cloud Strife from the Final Fantasy series by Square Enix, but he’s not available from the beginning of the game. So how do you unlock Smash Ultimate Cloud? We’ll show you how to get him.
Who is Cloud?
Cloud Strife is the protagonist of Final Fantasy VII by Square Enix, as well as the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The outfits Cloud wore in both versions are available in Smash Bros Ultimate. He’s an elite warrior and mercenary for the freedom fighters of AVALANCHE, and fights with his gigantic Buster Sword. His first appearance in Smash Bros was as a DLC character for the last game in the series, Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS. He’s an S-Tier character, which means he’s one of the best in the game.
How to Unlock Smash Ultimate Cloud
Like with all the locked characters in the Smash Bros Ultimate roster, Cloud can be unlocked in three separate ways. The easiest way to get him is by playing through the Classic Mode as a specific character, namely Dark Samus. You can do this at any difficulty level, just make sure you complete it, although obviously you’ll need to get Dark Samus first. Just play through Classic Mode as regular Samus to get her evil twin.
You can also get him by playing VS matches, although this may take a while as he is the 56th character that players can unlock. The final method is by making it through the World of Light campaign, where he can be found in the Sacred Land area of the World of Dark. You’ll need to unlock Zelda first, then you just follow the path to Cloud. Beat him after doing any of these methods, and Cloud Strife is yours to play!
