Pokemon Let’s Go Amiibo Support – Are They Compatible?

It might not be at the top of your list of queries, but a Pokemon Let’s Go Amiibo support function hasn’t been discussed at length since the game’s launch. You would figure that Nintendo would allow its Pokemon amiibo figurines to be compatible with Pokemon Let’s Go to earn rewards, right? Here’s the lowdown on if they are compatible or not.

Pokemon Let’s Go Amiibo Support – What are Amiibo, and What Could They Support?

Amiibo are Nintendo’s compatible toys-for-life statues that were first introduced back in November 2014. They’ve become a huge collector’s item among Nintendo’s fanbase, but they have uses outside of being mere figurines to display in your home.

Amiibos contain wifi connections that, when linked to certain Nintendo games, can transfer data and game-specific awards to and from the Nintendo Switch, 3DS, and other supported consoles. Titles such as Super Smash Bros., Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Maker can all interact with Amiibos when they are placed on the consoles. It seems logical to employ this technology with Pokemon Let’s Go then, right?

Pokemon Let’s Go Amiibo Support – Are They Compatible With One Another?

Strangely enough, no. The Pokemon Company doesn’t seem to be a big endorser of Nintendo’s Amiibo figurines, and the fact that no-one has mentioned anything about supporting them is proof of this. A quick scan of the Amiibo-supported Nintendo games page shows that they aren’t either. It’s even more surreal when a third-party game, such as Little Nightmares, has a Pac-Man Amiibo compatibility feature too.

That hasn’t stopped fans from wanting some form of functionality between the Pokemon Amiibo statues and Pokemon Let’s Go. There are a few threads on the game’s Reddit page calling for some support function to be introduced. Given that the game is out and a patch is extremely unlikely, however, we may never be able to use our Amiibos with Pokemon Let’s Go. We’ll have to focus on catching them all IRL instead.
