Is there a Spyro Reignited Trilogy Switch edition? That’s what some Spyro fans are wondering ahead of the remastered game’s release. Spyro and Nintendo seem like a match made in Heaven due to their family friendly aesthetic and colorful characters, so will it be released on the Switch?
Spyro Reignited Trilogy Switch Edition – Is it Coming to the Nintendo Console?
Not right now. The game is only slated to be released on Microsoft’s Xbox One console and Sony’s PS4 console. There’s been no word of a Spyro Reignited Trilogy Switch edition, and it doesn’t look like there will be for some time.
Developers Toys for Bob know that they’re onto a winner with Spyro on PS4, due to its popularity on previous PlayStation consoles over the past two decades. Bringing the collection to the Xbox One expands on that market and, with the Xbox One having a bigger share of the console market than the Switch currently, it makes sense to release the title on Microsoft’s platform too.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy Switch Edition – Will There Ever be One?
It’s always a possibility. There have been plenty of examples of games released on the Switch after they are launched on other platforms. The Switch recently got ports of Resident Evil 7 and Dark Souls, while the likes of Firewatch will also be working their way onto Nintendo’s hybrid console in the near future.
Those ports should give fans hope that the trilogy will be brought to the Switch then. Like we said earlier, given the family friendly appeal of the game and the console, it would be very surprising if Spyro Reignited Trilogy wasn’t added to the Switch’s gaming roster.
Even better, a potential Switch port was spotted (via Siliconera) on the Nintendo UK store. Possibly slip up, or something more? Only time will tell.
It might not be announced until sometime next year, but keep an eye on our official Spyro game page to be the first to know if it will.
