Assassin's Creed Odyssey spear of leonidas - How to Upgrade the Spear of Leonidas

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – How to Upgrade the Spear of Leonidas

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has no hidden blade. We’ll have to wait for the DLC to see the first hidden blade in action. While not directly analogous to that iconic weapon, the protagonists in this game wield the Spear of Leonidas. It can help you with stealth attacks but some of the game’s best abilities in all three branches require you to have a higher leveled Spear. But how do you do that? How can you upgrade the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Spear of Leonidas? There’s only one way. Be careful because this guide has some light spoilers.

If you’ve made partially though the game, you’ll notice that you now can hunt some members of the Cult of Kosmos. That wretched group is the key to upgrading your spear but only some of them.

As you hunt them down, you’ll find that some of them hold Artifact Fragments, which are small triangular shards. You’ll need these to upgrade your spear and every level requires more fragments.

Notice that only some cult members have these fragments. Some do not, so be careful. You can check who does by going to the Cultist part of the pause menu and hovering over specific members.

If you can’t see what a specific cultist has, you need to hunt other people in the cult. This is tricky since most of them are hidden well and others are pretty high leveled. Some are also part of the main campaign so you’re guaranteed to get a couple of them but you should go after a few by yourself as well.

You can upgrade your Spear of Leonidas at the Ancient Forge called the Forge of Hephaistos which is on the far east side of the map. It’s on the upper half of Andros Island and designated by a gold triangle with a green outline. You go there for a campaign mission and you can also fast travel there if you’d like.
