Firing West And Zampella Wasn’t Difficult, Says Kotick

When Bobby Kotick fired Infinity Ward leads Jason West and Vince Zampella a couple of years ago, everyone thought he was downright crazy for letting such incredible talent part ways with the publisher; however, the Activision CEO still believes it was the right decision to make.

The New York Times recently published a profile on Kotick, in which he explains why it was so easy to let them go. “You find out two executives are planning to break their contracts, keep the money you gave them, and steal 40 employees. What do you do? You fire them,” Kotick said.

The conflict between the two parties was resolved earlier this year, but the terms of the deal were never released to the public.

The article went on to reveal that Kotick has been approached by Hollywood in the past to make a film adaptation of the Call of Duty franchise, but the CEO has denied the offer. Apparently, he's afraid it might tarnish the franchise. Go figure.
