Community Choice GOTY Winner 2012

The Walking Dead: Season 1 – Community Choice Game of the Year 2012

Platform(s): PC, Mac, Xbox 360, PS3, iOS

Publisher: Telltale Games

Developer: Telltale Games

When the dust settled on the final round of the 2012 Community Choice award, a winner was clear, but not without a fight. On its way to the grand finale with The Walking Dead, Journey overcame Max Payne 3, X-COM: Enemy Unknown, and Assassin's Creed III. Telltale Games and its post-zombie-outbreak adventure game laid waste to Persona 4: Golden, Mass Effect 3, and scrappy upstart Sleeping Dogs. Both of these games deserve to be here thanks to your voice and your vote.

In the early running, The Walking Dead took an early lead, securing commenters like Fieperskaivu, shandog137, and Kurlkurry. Journey did the best it could to stay in lock step, not without the help of 213EDD, FATAL1TY, and Bras.

In the late hour, Journey surged ahead to tie the voting: sliverstorm, Imnickson, and t1pz0r each casting their votes for thatgamecompany's platformer. If this streak could hold out, victory would be Journey's.

That's when Sourdeez, inferno003, used44, Bretimus_v2, and others snuck up on the scarved mountain people and ate their brains. In the end, there were only zombies. The survivors on Journey's mountain had all eaten each other. The Walking Dead is your Community Choice Game of the Year, winning with a vote of 24-17.

Runners Up:

  • Journey – 2nd Place
  • Sleeping Dogs – 3rd Place
  • Assassin's Creed III – 4th Place
  • Dishonored – 5th Place
