A free Fortnite Wildcard skin would be wonderful to see. The white suit looks amazing, and the customizable masks help to give each squadmate a unique look. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they’ll be free to earn. The Fortnite High Stakes challenges and rewards have already been revealed, and unfortunately the Wildcard skin isn’t mentioned. There are some other enticing rewards, however, including the Crowbar skin for the pickaxe, but it doesn’t look like the Wildcard can be unlocked for free.
Free Fortnite Wildcard Skin: Can You Get It for Free?
As mentioned above, a free Fortnite Wildcard skin just doesn’t seem to be on the… cards. With the paid-for Tomatohead skin no doubt earning Epic Games a ton of money, I’m sure that the Wildcard skin will also be held hostage in the Item Store.
Of course, it’s important to note that Fortnite Battle Royale is a free-to-play title, and Epic Games is expected to make money somehow. Though it looks very cool indeed, the Wildcard skin won’t offer any gameplay advantages. In fact, it will make the wearer stand out on the island. That bright white suit won’t be blending into the background, that’s for sure!
While the High Stakes challenges and rewards pretty much confirm that the Wildcard skin won’t be available for free, we can’t rule it out. No official word on how exactly players earn the new skin have been revealed, and it’s perfectly possible that it’s unlocked in a way that doesn’t require players to put down some dollars. We’ll have to wait until September 6 to find out what exactly we must do to earn that Tide-white suit.
If the Fortnite Wildcard skin is implemented in the same way as the Tomatohead, we can estimate a price of 1,500 V-Bucks in order to unlock it. It will likely then have challenges that allow players to unlock the different masks.
