Pokemon Let’s Go is around the corner, and speaking in the latest issue of Famitsu, Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda went into some detail regarding both Let’s Go and Pokemon Switch 2019. The full issue of Famitsu has not yet gone live, but we do have some interesting tidbits regarding both upcoming Pokemon Switch games. It’s a good time to be a Pokemon fan. Masuda wants to allow trading between Pokemon Let’s Go and Pokemon Generation 8.
Handily translated by NintendoEverything based on a post from Ryokutya2089, Masuda’s comments are certainly interesting. He explains that he would like Pokemon Let’s Go to be forward thinking. Some kind of link between Let’s Go and Pokemon 2019 would be great. Indeed, Masuda spoke of wanting to expel any “bad memories” old Pokemon titles may have left thanks to a lack of forward thinking. The ability to trade between Let’s Go and Pokemon Switch 2019 would be ace.
Masuda explains: “There have been times where you couldn’t bring Pokemon over from previous titles – I imagine that created some bad memories. I want to try and change that, if I can.” While he doesn’t outright confirm any ability to trade between the two Switch games, he does say that it’s something he’d like to do. We can only hope. At least he wants it.
Speaking of Pokemon Switch 2019, Masuda wants it to feel traditional. Indeed, he would like everyone to buy a copy as if they would for Nintendo’s handheld systems. A copy per person, not per console. “As for the 2019 title, we’re working with the idea that everyone will be playing on their own Switch. It’ll have the same kind of feeling as the previous games on handheld systems.”
It sounds like Game Freak and Nintendo want Pokemon Generation 8 to remain as core a Pokemon experience as possible. Take your Switch to the park to trade. Go on. We can’t wait to see the new Pokemon Switch 2019 title in action.
