Fortnite 5.0 Content Update Patch Notes: New SMG and More

The Fortnite 5.0 Content Update patch notes have finally been revealed, four hours(!) later than the usual time. Now we can finally take a break from twiddling our thumbs and view the long-awaited new feature details! Highlights include the new SMG and some other noteworthy additions. Read on for good stuff!

Fortnite 5.0 Content Update Patch Notes Highlights

Battle Royale players only really have one big new feature to get excited about. The Fortnite 5.0 Content Update patch notes detail the new submachine gun, which is available in Common, Uncommon, and Rare variants, boasting between 19 and 21 damage. It uses light ammo, has a 30-round capacity, and can be found in floor loot and chests. The new SMG replaces the tactical SMG, which has been added to the Vault. (Weapons can return from the Vault, so don’t fret if you’re a big tactical SMG fan!)

Also of note is the semi-auto sniper rifle, which has had its damage increased from 63/66 to 75/78. That’s pretty nasty!

Save the World players will find the Typewriter assault rifle added to the Weekly Store. This mid-range assault weapon has a high-capacity magazine and lots of recoil. It’s ideal for clearing out groups of nearby enemies. It will be made available on Wednesday, July 18.

If you haven’t yet purchased Save the World, which is the less-popular PvE side of Fortnite, it’s currently available at a discount of 50%. This sale begins on July 17 and ends July 30. (Note: Epic Games is planning to make Save the World free-to-play at some stage, so it might be worth holding off. Of course, that point could be years away, so dive in if you’re eager!)
