Anthem and Why There Are No Gender Variations With the Javelin Suits

If you’ve played a lot of BioWare games, you’ll have noticed that there are certain differences when it comes to the armor you get equipped with depending whether you have breasts or not. Yes, we’re talking about the dreaded boob armor. Gender variations like these have often left people rolling their eyes, especially as it’s been proven time and time again that boob armor just doesn’t work. If Commander Shepard fell on her boob armor? We’d hate to see what she’d break in the process. Well, thanks to Mark Darrah’s, the executive producer of Anthem, we now know that we won’t have to worry about boob armor in the future. He stated why that is on Twitter, which you can now see below.

The second point Darrah brings up is particularly interesting. Harassment of women in online games is still very much prominent, and having armor that shows off those features could lead to uncomfortable situations that a player shouldn’t have to deal with. There is also the fact that, as Darrah mentioned, the difference was barely noticeable, so why make the effort to create boob armor in the first place?

Of course, there are a few individuals who may not agree with the lack of boob armor and they are entitled to their opinion, but the argument still stands: with little difference, it seems as though the addition of it would be meaningless. So overall, the lack of it seems like a win/win regardless.

But what are your opinions about the lack of visual difference between the two sets of Javelin suits? Is it really that big of a deal, or are you seriously not bothered by it? Let us know.
