Sable was given a prominent showing during the PC Gaming conference at E3 2018, with British developer Shedworks drawing inspiration from Studio Ghibli and Belgian comics to create an open-world adventure game with a thoroughly unique visual direction. Teaming a desolate yet gorgeous open-world desert landscape with zippy hoverbikes, Sable looks like a cross between Star Wars’ Jakku and That Game Company’s Journey.
Sable was initially shown off during Microsoft’s E3 2018 presentation and its ID@Xbox showreel, though some more gameplay was debuted during the PC Gaming event. Though we still know very little about it, we do know that there are going to be hoverbikes and an expansive environment to explore. It’s certainly one of the most visually striking games to appear during E3 2018, and we can’t wait to see more of it as its development progresses.
Sable will be soundtracked by Japanese Breakfast, a solo musical project from Michelle Zauner of Little Big League. The game’s official description reads: “Go on a deeply personal journey across an alien planet as the young Sable, exploring ancient monuments, ruined architecture, and ships fallen from the cosmos, all while learning the history of its inhabitants and discovering her place in the world.”
No release date has been given for the game, with it set to launch on PC, Mac, and unspecified consoles. It will be published by Raw Fury.
