Redditors and dataminers have just delved deep into a Fortnite datamine and found some interesting morsels of information. We should be expecting jetpacks to roll out before or during Week 5. And it looks like there’ll be a new competitive playlist in the near-future, yet to be confirmed by Epic Games.
The Fortnite datamine first revealed yesterday that the previously-teased jetpacks – that were set for a release in Season 3 but pulled out due to issues – look to be coming in or around Week 5. The theory came from a dataminer called “FNBRLeaks” on Twitter, who published some screenshots that serve as proof of his findings. He said, “If you find a Jetpack, double-tap the jump button to take off. Keep the button held down to apply thrust. Make sure to land before you run out of fuel!” This suggests the jetpack will be a pick-up in the map, and that you’ll suffer from fall damage during use. It’s unclear yet as to whether the jetpack fuel will be rechargeable or another pick-up item.
The second finding, which surfaced today, came from a group of Redditors datamining Version 4.2.0 of the Fortnite files. User Richtoveen found a playlist folder called “comp,” containing a file labeled “Playlist_Comp_Solo”. The same user also found that the next iteration of the Solid Gold mode will have a solo, duo, and squad mode, and they also found a new shotgun mode folder. The YouTube channel DieBuddies have also conducted their own Fortnite datamine, and discovered a little more information about the new competitive mode:
Further info uncovered by DieBuddies suggests that the jetpacks allegedly coming in Week 5 will be part of a limited-time mode called “Close Encounters,” producing a screenshot of their datamine that correlates with the quotation from FNBRLeaks on jetpack functionality.
It looks like there’s a whole bunch of exciting things to look forward to in Fortnite‘s near-future. We’ll be keeping you updated with more information on what to expect, so stay tuned.
