Why is Destiny 2 On My PS4? How to Get Rid of the Annoying Ad

Destiny 2 ads have been appearing on PS4 dashboards, with Bungie’s FPS showing up as a game icon on the PS4s of those who don’t own the sci-fi shooter.

This isn’t the first time that Sony has pulled this trick, with the original Destiny also appearing as a game icon alongside a message to ‘Buy Now.’ However, it’s still an annoying tactic all the same, and you’re probably going to want to get rid of it to avoid any confusion.

Fortunately, it’s easy to get rid of the Destiny 2 ad from your PS4 and prevent similar ads from popping up in the future. To do so, go to Settings > System > Automatic Downloads and then uncheck the box titled Featured Content.

After following these steps, the Destiny 2 ad will disappear from your PS4 and you will have also ensured that other game icon ads won’t show up, meaning that your dashboard will solely contain games that you actually own.

While this isn’t a new practise from Sony, misleadingly posting ads for games in the middle of PS4 owners’ collections is an underhanded tactic. Although Sony rarely utilizes these ads, by opting out of Featured Content you’ll guarantee that you won’t be confronted by them again.
