The Destiny 2 The Dawning winter event started today, and with it comes the Dawning Gift Schematic item. It is the season for gift giving, and to earn some new gear you’ll have to get into the holiday spirit and use Dawning Gift Schematics to gather some presents for your friends at The Tower. Read on below to learn how to get the Dawning schematic for Zavala and complete the quest associated with it.
How to Get Dawning Gift Schematics in Destiny 2
To get a Dawning Gift Schematic in Destiny 2 you’ll need to head over near Ikora Rey in the Bazaar area of The Tower. Next to Ikora is a giant pile of presents. When you get near the presents, you’ll get a prompt that says “Pick Up Today’s Gift Schematic.” Pick up a schematic, and it’ll appear as a Dawning’s Gift Schematic in the Ghost slot in your inventory.
It looks like a lot of players are getting the Dawning’s Gift Schematic for Zavala today, though there is a possibility that the schematic you receive is random. Once the schematic is in your inventory, you’ll get a quest in which you have to complete several tasks.
How to Complete the Dawning Gift Schematic for Zavala in Destiny 2
If you pick up Zavala’s Dawning Gift Schematic, you’ll need to defeat fifty Red Legion soldiers and collect ten pieces of Phaseglass.
Where to Find Red Legion Soldiers
Your best bet to find 50 Red Legion to defeat is to head somewhere that they have a heavy presence. An excellent location to start this task is on Nessus in the areas around the Pools of Luminance and the Cistern. There is a lot of Cabal Red Legion in this area, and if you raid the nearby lost sectors, you can find a ton of them concentrated in one spot as well.

Where to Find Phaseglass
You’ll find Phaseglass in Destiny 2 on Io. It’s one of that moon’s unique resources, so there’s nowhere else you can find it in the game. If you have a Ghost that has the Io REsource Detector perk, it’ll make spotting these deposits a lot easier. One of the Ghost Shells that comes with this perk is the Hemisphere Shell, but I believe there are several more that also have it. Phaseglass isn’t exactly rare on Io so it shouldn’t take you too long to find 10 pieces by just wandering around for a bit.
What to do With the Ghaul Stress Toy in Destiny 2
Once you complete your tasks of killing 50 Red Legion and obtaining 10 pieces of Phaseglass, your schematic will turn into the Ghaul Stress Toy. You can take this to Zavala in The Tower, and he’ll give you a reward. It seems like this item will be a powerful piece of class-specific armor, and should give you a useful bump in your Power level if you’re not at the maximum.
