GR Votes: How Should Loot Boxes Be Handled?

Loot boxes have become a big part of triple-A releases, and though we’ve thrown our hands up repeatedly about them over the course of the past couple of years or so, they’re showing no signs of slowing down. The recent furor surrounding Star Wars Battlefront 2 suggests that they’re getting worse, and now gamers and publishers are arguing over what constitutes a sensible middle ground.

Though there are many who vehemently believe that loot boxes have no place in video games, there are others who argue that their inclusion is fine if they remain cosmetic, or if they ensure that the game will have free DLC further down the line. Then there are those who just want to watch the world burn, and who gladly buy loot boxes with all of their money while laughing at those of us who get a bit sore when talking about them.

With that being said, on this week’s edition of GR Votes we’re asking you to offer your thoughts on loot boxes over on our official forum. Should they stay or should they go? Let us know.

Last week’s results: Last week we asked you to vote on your favorite Sonic the Hedgehog game, with Sonic 2 and Sonic & Knuckles both coming out on top. No love was shown for the 3D Sonic games, though Sonic Mania also received a favorable showing.
