Fewer Players Finished Mass Effect 3 Than Mass Effect 2

At a GDC Europe panel, BioWare's online development director Fernando Melo shared some game data on completion rates for their past titles from Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises. The data is fascinating, really.

Mass Effect 3: 42%

Mass Effect 2: 56%

Mass Effect 1: 40%

Dragon Age: Origins: 36%

Dragon Age 2: 41%

Also, the number of people who play the game doesn't seem to matter. Even though the numbers for Mass Effect 3 were incredible and despite the introduction of cooperative multiplayer, the length of time people have played the game hasn't changed.

This says a lot about single-player RPGs. Even if a game is critically successful, the completion rate is only about 40%. Which begs the question: If you have those games, did you finish them? (I did, several times in fact.)
