StarCraft: Remastered – Zerg Tips and Strategies

In StarCraft: Remastered, the Zergling is a beginning Zerg player’s best friend. You should immediate research Burrow at your hatchery. This ability allows you to dig your units into the ground and as long as there’s not a detector unit around, you’re invisible to the enemy.

Playing as Zerg starting off

Initiate the game by maxing your number of mining Drones and build your first Overlord. Then hatch a few pairs of Zerglings and start scouting the map. Once you find your enemy, you can then get them into their base and burrow them, allowing you to spy on them while you get your army ready.

An excellent unit mix for a beginner’s army is Hydralisks and Zerglings. Build a refinery ASAP and start mining gas. Make the Hydralisk Den ASAP, and concentrate on getting the Muscular Augments and Grooved Spines upgrades.

Using a Zergling and Hydralisk mixed army

You can then start producing as many Zerglings and Hydralisks as possible. Consider building additional Hatcheries so that you can up the amount of units you can get on the field.

Once your army is at a comfortable level, you can head towards the enemy. One good tactic to use against the CPU or a less skilled human player is to burrow most of your army just outside of the enemy base. You can then send in a few units of your choice to aggro enemy units then send them back in the direction of your army. When they’re in range, unburrow and pick off the foes you’ve lured in.

Zerg players need to rely on their early game advantage; the mid-to-late game can be a lot trickier for them. Mutalisks and Ultralisks are also favorite mid-late game units, but it can be a bit harder to manage to get an army consisting of those units together before your enemy can take you out. The above combo is ideal for those who are just getting into the swing of StarCraft: Remastered and makes an excellent jumping off point for more advanced tactics.
