Obsidian Hit With Layoffs

Layoffs at game developers are becoming way too common of an occurrence as of late, and sadly, Obsidian Entertainment has been the next one to feel the axe. According to Joystiq, as many as 30 people lost their jobs at the develop.

As a result, an unannounced next-gen project has been cancelled. If that wasn't enough, some of the staff let go were part of the upcoming South Park RPG.

Obsidian has not publicly commented on the matter, and neither has THQ, who will be publishing the South Park game.

Our thoughts and prayers go with the former employees of Obsidian. It's obviously not a great time to be looking for work in the gaming industry, but I hope that you find something you will love just as much very soon.
