Resistance: Burning Skies Releasing In May On Vita

Starting tomorrow, gamers everywhere will start picking up their First Edition PlayStation Vita bundles, and seeing first-hand just how little it feels like a portable, and how much it feels like a console. And that's mostly due to the inclusion of two, honest-to-goodness analog sticks – no nubs or circle pads allowed.

Sony knows that the dual analog sticks open the doors to the type of game that the American market eats, sleeps and breathes: First-Person Shooters. Which is why they're pegging the upcoming Resistance: Burning Skies as "the world's first portable dual-analog FPS".

The game releases on May 29th in the US, and is one of the first announced release dates set outside the mysterious launch window.

While it is indeed the first of its kind as far as FPS on portables go, the Resistance series never really brought in the type of sales associated with other FPS franchises like Call of Duty, Halo, or Battlefield. Especially since by the time it releases, there won't be that many Vita's in the hands of consumers, I don't expect sales to be significant. But it will at least serve the purpose of being a first. Kudos, Sony.

Our PlayStation Vita launch coverage begins today. Expect our first few Vita game reviews to go live later today and will continue for the next two weeks.
