Sony Demolishes PlayStation Network, Firmware v4.10 Now Live

You want change? You got change! Sony has just released a new firmware update for the PlayStation 3 and they aren't in a mood for messing around!

Firmware update 4.10 is now LIVE and there are several changes you should be aware of. For one, there is no more PlayStation Network. Now before you throw up your arms and scream like Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone, it isn't that there is no more online service for PlayStation, but rather that it's been renamed. As you might have heard during the week, the PlayStation Network has been renamed to Sony Entertainment Network. While it currently is only a change of name and image, this could mean a lot of things for the future of online services on PlayStation hardware. As we saw with the Vita, Sony isn't exactly sticking with the XrossMediaBar forever, and there are plenty of reasons to evolve to today's standards.

Thankfully, the name change isn't the only thing included in PlayStation 3's v4.10 update, which I might add is 180MB large (sorry to those of you still using a 20GB hard drive). The internet browser on your PlayStation devices has received some TLC. Not only is it more stable, but it also supports websites that in the past would fail during query.

So what are you waiting for? Turn your sleek and sexy PlayStation 3 on and start downloading! It'll probably take you all night since everyone is downloading it, so prepare some coffee while you're at it.
