Samurai Is Coming To Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood

Following months of speculation, Square Enix has confirmed that the second job coming to FFXIV: Stormblood is the Samurai. The announcement was made during a presentation at its fan festival in Frankfurt, Germany.

Operating as a melee DPS, the Samurai will employ the katana to devastate opponents using Eastern swordplay techniques. Its primary mechanic allows it to transition between three sword arts called Setsu (Snow), Getsu (Moon), and Ka (Flower).

The Samurai has long been anticipated, due in-part to its popularity in Final Fantasy XI where it was one of the most beloved DPS classes. Although its style of play will be very different in Final Fantasy XIV, there will be some minor similarities including its skill names, ability to store energy before performing high burst attacks, and emphasis of weapon skills.

Some players are complaining that no new tank or healer will be added in the expansion, which is sure to result in longer dungeon cues. The other DPS coming with the expansion is Red Mage.
