With Sony announcing today that the PS4 has already shipped 50 million units, we know it's a hot commodity. A console of this popularity practically demands to be on a holiday wish list in some capacity or another.
But what should you get that special PS4 gamer?
PlayStation 4 Pro
Price: $399.99
Review: "I am happy I made the decision to purchase the PS4 Pro."
We've come a long way since the days of a new console debuting at $500 or $600. While the price of the PS4 Pro is still hefty, it's a lot lower than it could have been. If you have the money to throw around, a PS4 Pro is 4K gaming's first real option.
PlayStation 4 Slim – Uncharted 4 Bundle
Price: $269.00
If you don't have a 4K TV, though, a PS4 Pro is probably not a best buy. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy cheap PS4 gaming. For almost $150 less, you can get a PS4 Slim and one of this year's best games: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Price: $59.99 (on sale at Amazon.com for $48.70 as of Dec. 7)
Review: 4.5/5 "I wouldn’t change a darn thing."
And hey, why spend a bunch of money on a console bundle if you already have the console. Just get the game that many consider the best of the year. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was an unbelievably satisfying end to a four-game journey that will stick around in our memories for years to come.
Dishonored 2
Price: $59.99 (on sale at Amazon.com for $39.94 as of Dec. 7)
Review: 4.5/5 "It will be almost impossible to put down."
Dishonored 2 debuted to mixed reception on PC, due to sub-par optimization. Luckily for PS4 players, no such issues occurred. The game runs swimmingly, and it offers a wealth of gameplay opportunities and gives you the choice on how you want to play it. There's a reason the game is as revered as it is.
Titanfall 2
Price: $59.99 (on sale at Amazon.com for $38.06)
Review: 4/5 "Titanfall 2 delivers on the promise"
Titanfall 2 hasn't had the best sales of the season – nowhere close, in fact – missing its sales expectations. While that's bad news for EA, that's great news for you, the consumer, becuase that means it's not hard to find the title on sale for a discounted rate. Titanfall 2 has been lauded to high heavens by almost everyone who has played it, so any price less than full is a steal.
The Last Guardian
Price: $59.99
The Last Guardian has finally been released after a decade-long development period, and, while reception hasn't been what everyone would hope, there's still a lot of magic to be enjoyed in the action puzzle platformer. Plus, only PS4 titles can say they have a game as unique as The Last Guardian.
PowerA DualShock 4 Controller Charging Station
Price: $23.95
I, for one, am sick of having to use the dang micro USB charging cords for my controllers. A charging station takes that hassle away. Simply plug in the charging station and set your controllers down in the appropriate slots. Easy peasy.
