My review copy of Homefront is flying through the air at ridiculous heights right now. It's probably somewhere over the Atlantic ocean. Or maybe Pacific…. What coast are we on again?
Anyways, I'll probably need to pull out the stopwatch when I play through Homefront's single-player mode this weekend. Early reviews like the one from Official PlayStation Magazine Italy have given THQ's heavily promoted shooter high marks. I can't imagine Kaos Studios or THQ are very disappointed with a 9/10.
The same goes for PSM3's 83%. Looks like the devs will have a happy Christmas this year! Bonus checks for everyone! Still, these reviews note a couple of short-comings. When we say "short" we mean SHORT.
That short, short length of the main story may seem like a major sticking point, but it isn't as significant as you might fear. Homefront is relentlessly brutal and constantly puts you in new, unusual and memorable scenarios, varying the pace to keep things interesting.
[We were left wanting more] but not because we felt that the story was lacking or that we hadn't been playing for long enough – we were just keen to keep playing. [Guns in multiplayer] really come into their own [and the battle point system] rarely feels one-sided.
THQ and Kaos have always been direct with their assertions that Homefront focuses on multiplayer. Look out for Game Revolution's review when it's posted on Tuesday, the game's release date.
