Nintendo 3DS Troll Be Trolling

"The 3DS stinks." Now that's what I call journalistic integrity!

Maybe I shouldn't be so mean to Rebecca Greenfield about criticizing the 3DS. (Or feed her.) Game Revolution hasn't exactly been glowing about the 3DS price drop, the 3DS launch launch line-up, the recent 3DS analog stick doohicky, the 3DS health risks… okay, you get it.

But Rebecca, like so many other mainstream journalists, love to just troll Nintendo (and any game company, really) over not embracing the so-called mobile revolution. She asserts that Nintendo is apparently "killing itself" because it just doesn't understand its own industry:

But things are different now; gaming has changed. Its (wrong usage for "its", by the way) gone mobile and Nintendo refuses to jump on that. And its reluctance to evolve is suicidal.

Nintendo doesn't get that nobody wants Nintendo gaming systems anymore. The 3DS stinks.

…The whole gaming scene has gotten less expensive and more social–Nintendo hasn't adapted. Like we said, the company hasn't opened itself up to smart phones nor has it developed games for the changing consumer. Think: More Farmville, less Mario.

If that last sentence just made you throw up mushrooms, I wouldn't blame you. Now, I can see Nintendo perhaps taking advantage of the mobile space by offering more Marioand maybe even Animal Crossing if we're going down the Farmville routetitles on Android or something like that.

But to suggest that the lack of mobile integration is the sole reason for Nintendo's downfall, and not, say, the lack of first-party platform-selling titlesfor instance, A MARIO TITLE—is just another blundering talking point by another talking head. So let me just end this rant by saying not to click on the "Source" below. That will just get her hits. Unless you want to troll her. Fair is fair.
